Sovrun aims to onboard onchain games and envisions the future of gaming as increasingly onchain, especially with respect to their programmable composability.

Following the discussion on core components, modders on Sovrun can reimagine the experience by using the rules and interactions within games that are coded into their framework, allowing for predictable and trustless execution of actions, as well as permissionless expansion and modification of the code. This is . It is where innovations in the gaming experience could include aspects of one game being interoperable with actions in other games, player behavior and in-game actions causing interactions with dApps outside of the game, or even fundamentally changing the core gameplay experience through the addition of assets and features on top of the base experience.

Ecosystem Development Fund

Sovrun is directing the use of its Ecosystem Development Fund (EDF) toward fostering onchain gaming and the supporting dApps and infrastructure needed to unlock more expansive Autonomous Worlds.

To ensure alignment of incentives between rewards and contributors while providing long-term support for the growth of the gaming ecosystem, an annual spending cap is implemented which is 30% (net of spending from reserves) based on the fund’s annual beginning balance.

The EDF is divided into two categories: the Game Development Fund (GDF) and the Ecosystem Infrastructure Development Fund (EIDF).

The purposes of the GDF follow:

  • Investments, grants, and bounties for building onchain games

  • Investments, grants, and bounties for feature development

  • Gas sponsorships and other upkeep for game-related operations and live maintenance

  • Rewards and upkeep for content creation

  • Rewards and upkeep for community building

  • Sponsorships for partnerships and gaming events

  • Retroactive rewards for game developers, where applicable

  • Go-to-market (GTM) support for onboarded and incubated dApps and supporting infrastructure

  • Any other upkeep related to the game development of the Sovrun ecosystem

The purposes of the EIDF follow:

  • Investments, grants, and bounties for dApps

  • Investments, grants, and bounties for the development of Sovrun Labs initiatives and incubatees

  • Gas sponsorships and other upkeep for dApps and supporting infrastructure

  • Rewards and upkeep for content creation

  • Rewards and upkeep for community building

  • Sponsorships for partnerships and events

  • Retroactive rewards for ecosystem contributors, where applicable

  • Go-to-market (GTM) support for onboarded and incubated dApps and supporting infrastructure

  • Any other upkeep related to the development of the Sovrun ecosystem
